Global relationship between Mediterranean diet and the incidence and mortality of ischaemic heart disease

Abstract Background The purpose of this study was to clarify the global relationship between Mediterranean diet score (MDS) and country-wise incidence mortality ischaemic heart disease (IHD) using an international database. Methods We used population data from a longitudinal database covering 137 countries with over one million. MDS were evaluated based on total nine foods that comprise diet. Results Analysis showed significantly associated after controlling covariates (–1.01 ± 0.27, P < 0.001). Similarly, there significant association IHD-related (–0.73 0.34, 0.05). Conclusion 27 suggests might have preventive effect IHD.
